The title is ‘ interception ’.  This is a group work installation when I was a sophomore.  The assignment is “to make a reliable place”. 

    The concept is to shut out the visual information and make person think about what is the important information.  Today, there is so much information around us.  Because the Internet system and mass media have spread.  Necessary or unnecessary information are intermingling.  Our era has a surfeit of information.  We raised a question about the state of affairs. 

     First, we thought over how to shut out the information.  Then we realized we humans rely on the sense of sight when judge the things.  So,we tried to shut out the visual informationand then make an experiment what information we get and what we think. 

     We found a curtain as a symbol of barrier.  We made a large curtain using white clothes.  The curtain is formed by 21 clothes. The each clothes’ size is, the length is 3.7 meters and the width is 1.2 meters.

We set up the 21 clothes alternately.  People have to thread their way through the clothes. The aim is to make people recall the experience when the people pass each other.  We feel realized when sensed someone. That is our answer for the assignment.
